Weekly Meetings Encourage Saddened Pet Owners

Losing a pet to death often leads pet owners to experience an insurmountable grief of a nature never before experienced. Many are embarrassed to admit to such a level of mourning, however, afraid of being scrutinized by those who do not understand such grief over a companion who was "...only an animal."

The Empty Leash Pet Loss Support Group recognizes taboos often associated with the intense grief felt by those who lose pets. Mourning pet owners are brought together to help heal and comfort each other. The group meets every other Monday, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., at the Abbott Road Animal Hospital, 3816 Abbott Road, Orchard Park. Meetings are free of charge, however, advance registration is necessary. To reserve your spot, contact Kym, (716) 714-5785, or e-mail TheEmptyLeash@yahoo.com. For more information and meeting details, please visit the organization's website.
